最近の推し事 Recent favorite things

タイトルの読み方はわかりますか？「さいきんの　おしごと」と読みます。たぶん、「推し事」という単語は辞書に載っていません。でも最近、日本ではこの言葉がよく使われるようになっています。

元々、日本語には「推す」という動詞がありました。「押す」とは漢字が違います。「推す」は「誰かを何かのポストに推薦する」という意味です。それが少し前から「自分の好きなアーティストや俳優、キャラクターを応援し、その人の良さを宣伝したり、その人のグッズを買ったりして、ファン活動を行う」という意味で使われるようになりました。

「事」は、動詞や文を名詞節として使えるようにするための形式名詞です。「誰かを応援すること」を正しい文法で話すと、「推す事」「推すこと」になります。ですが日本語には、「お仕事」という別な単語があります。これは単純に「仕事」に丁寧さを示す接頭辞をつけたものです。

こうして、言葉遊びのひとつとして「推し事」という単語が生まれました。この言葉遊びには、「好きな人を応援する」という活動が自分の人生の一部となり、仕事のようになっているという意味も含まれています。みんな、お金を稼いで好きな人を養い、コンサートなどのために「出張して」、生きることを楽しんでいます。

あなたは最近、「推し事」をしていますか？　私は今、にじさんじというVtuberグループの中の、ある人を推しています。その人は歌を作ったり、ギターを弾きながら歌ったりするのが大好きで、活動を頑張ってきました。今年の夏、その人は一人でコンサートをすることになりました。彼が努力の結果を形にできたことを、私は自分のことのようにうれしく感じています。毎日、彼の歌を聞いて「私もがんばろう」と思っています。

Do you know how to read the title? It's read as “さいきんの　おしごと.” The word “推し事” probably isn't in the dictionary. But recently, this term has become quite common in Japan.

Originally, Japanese had the verb “推す” (osu). It uses different kanji from “押す” (to push). "推す" means “to recommend someone for a position.” Recently, it has taken on a new meaning: “supporting your favorite artist, actor, or character by promoting their merits, buying their goods, and engaging in fan activities.”

“事” is a formal noun that turns verbs or clauses into noun phrases. To express “supporting someone” grammatically correctly, you would say "推す事　おすこと" or “推すこと.” Meanwhile, Japanese has the word “お仕事” (o-shigoto), which is simply “仕事” (shigoto, work) with a polite prefix added.

Thus, as a form of wordplay, the term “推し事” (oshi-goto) was born. This wordplay also carries the meaning that the activity of “supporting someone you like” has become a part of one's life, almost like a job. Everyone earns money to support their favorite person, travels for concerts and events, and enjoys living life.

This person loves creating songs and singing while playing the guitar and has worked hard at his activities. This summer, he is holding a solo concert.
